Aaron Pritchett BC Tour and The Yale!

2007 - my year to begin documenting my life a musician....

I have a brief bio on my website - www.mikenorman.com as well as www.myspace.com/mikenormanmusician.

Here's I'll try and be more immediate and post all things which may or may not be interesting in the life of your average working musician.... ahh if only I'd done this 15 years ago....

In the meantime ... here's some pictures....

January had me head out on the road for a six day tour with Aaron Pritchett and his band - Ron Briggs, Dennis Marcenko, Mike Sanyshyn, Mitch Merrett, soundman Warren Dieno and our road manager Carmen Choney. Had a great time with many well attended shows. Vernon, Kelowna, Duncan, Port Alberni, Courtenay and Campbell River - back to back. It was a little grueling but I prefer that kind of schedule. In addition to playing with Aaron I was also hired by the promoter to play acoustic guitar with the opening acts Erik Neilson and Nadine. Just the three of us, we did a short 8 song opening set - 4 songs each. As I'm from Vancouver Island my Dad and 95 year old Nana came to the show which was cool - I love the fact that amongst the young girls which make up a large percentage of Aaron's fan base was my Nana - 5 times the age of most of the crowd!
The picture of me with the yellow Les Paul was taken by Stacey Phillips - a big Aaron Pritchett band supporter. As I'm always at the back of the stage it's rare to get photos of me but she did and I think ol' Les looks pretty good.

The other picture was taken by Carlo Laertini (glaertini@yahoo.com) whom I never met. I did a gig with my buddy Jack Lavin at Vancouver's Yale Hotel at the end of the month (Jan. '07). Periodically you arrive at a gig where you meet everybody on the bandstand for the first time and then literally 5 minutes later you're counting in the first tune. This was one of those times. Jack was the leader and I've played with him many times before - but I had never met guitarist Marty Bernard, his wife Hannah our vocalist or drummer Lou Hoover. A lot of fun - off the cuff blues and r&b. Carlo is a friend of Jack's and Marty's and was nice enough to snap a few pictures.... his email address is above if you ever want to hire him as he is a pro.

3:42AM and the first post comes to a close. See ya!
